Stephen Reichard, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and fellowship-trained foot and ankle specialist who joined Black Hills Orthopedic & Spine Center in Rapid City, South Dakota, in 2025. With extensive expertise in foot and ankle reconstruction, total ankle replacement, sports medicine, arthroscopy, and lower extremity fracture care, Dr. Reichard is dedicated to providing top-tier care for both common and complex foot and ankle conditions.

Originally from central North Carolina, Dr. Reichard graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before spending five years as a mountain guide and ski patroller in the Tetons. This experience ignited his passion for helping others during their times of greatest need. He went on to attend Wake Forest University School of Medicine, followed by an orthopedic surgery residency at Case Western/University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Reichard further honed his skills with a fellowship in orthopedic foot and ankle surgery at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Reichard enjoys skiing, fishing, mountain biking, camping, and trail running with his wife and three children. Together, they love exploring the great outdoors of South Dakota.
