The most frequently replaced joints are the hip and the knee.

At Black Hills Orthopedic and Spine Center, our surgeons perform total joint replacement, partial joint replacement, and revision of joint replacement surgeries. We offer comprehensive joint care for the knee, hip, shoulder, elbow, wrist, ankle, and hand.

HIP REPLACEMENT
Hip replacement surgery has become a safe and reliable method for treating severe arthritis pain. The procedure involves replacing the arthritic ball and socket joint with an artificial implant.

KNEE REPLACEMENT
Knee replacement surgery has become another common and favorably recognized treatment for severe arthritis pain. The procedure involves replacing the surfaces of the knee joint with artificial implants.

Arthritic pain can be a result of such conditions as:

REVISION OF HIP OR KNEE REPLACEMENT
Our orthopedic surgeons also perform revisions of joint replacement surgeries. Most revisions are performed when the original primary total joint replacement has worn out or loosened in the bone. Revisions are a more complex procedure because there is usually a reduced amount of bone in which to place the new total hip or total knee. Dr. Marrs and Dr. Duchene have a special interest in this sub-specialty as well as additional training in total joint revision surgery.
