Black Hills Orthopedic Clinic was founded in 1976 by Dr. David W. Boyer. The clinic soon became known regionally for expert bone and joint care. The reputation subsequently attracted multiple sub-specialists to the practice.

Today, the clinic, now called Black Hills Orthopedic & Spine Center, provides a full spectrum of surgical and non-surgical services unparalleled in our region.

Orthopedic
Our experienced orthopedic medical team provides total bone and joint care. When a serious musculoskeletal injury occurs, feel confident that our specialists will manage your trauma care needs. Sub-specialties include total joint replacement and/or reconstruction (i.e. hip, knee), treatments for spine, shoulder, knee, foot and ankle, reconstructive microsurgery for the hand, pediatric orthopedics, scoliosis, carpal tunnel, tennis elbow, and more.

Arthritis and Rheumatic Disease
Arthritis and rheumatic diseases are a primary cause of disability among adults today. Arthritis and rheumatic diseases encompass more than joint inflammation. The diseases not only affect the joints, muscles and bones, but may impact other organs too. Our specialists provide patients and their families with diagnosis/treatment plans and education to help them cope with the changes caused by their condition.

Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine
Our experienced physical therapy and athletic training teams offer an assortment of specialized treatment regimens and fitness programs. Our Sports Medicine and Performance Plus Program use state of the art equipment in order to offer the best pre-season sports therapy, injury management, pre-performance training and fitness screening.

Related Services
Our Rapid City facility offers ancillary services to make your visit more efficient. We have a full-service laboratory and four x-ray suites available for your convenience. In addition, patients with certain auto-immune or rheumatologic conditions who need infusion therapy may receive treatment on site under the supervision of our trained Rheumatologists.

Our patients also have access to our physician-owned, Black Hills Imaging Center and Black Hills Surgical Hospital. Black Hills Imaging Center uses a 64-slice CT scanner and 3T MRI to provide you with state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging services. At Black Hills Surgical Hospital, the experience is more like an overnight stay in a luxury hotel.
